At Lakefield Nursery, quality child-care and pre-school education for children from 2 years 9 months to 5 years is provided.  The Nursery places an emphasis on learning through play and hands on experiences.

During the first five years of life, children grow and develop more rapidly that at any other time. The skills and attitudes developed during these years will remain with them throughout their lives.

The nursery is open during school term times, from 9am - 12 noon and from 1pm - 3.30pm. Provision is available for some children to stay over lunch time, to access both the morning and afternoon sessions. Up to 24 places are available per session. Every session is run by qualified and experienced staff.

 At Lakefield Nursery a carefully planned and structured environment is provided, full of opportunities for the children to develop. The children are encouraged to experiment and initiate their own learning activities at their own pace.

Each child is valued as an individual; high self -esteem, respect for others, confidence and early independence are all encouraged.

Above all, the main aim is to help the children develop in a happy and safe environment.

During the summer term, we run special Pre-school classes for our older nursery children, to help to prepare them for school in September. These run for 3 mornings a week, and operate alongside our usual nursery. They offer activities that extend the children's concentration and make use of our extensive school facilities, for example using the library, using the hall for PE and using the reception outdoor area. Parents of children who are offered a place at Lakefield School will automatically receive details of these classes.
